Most tailored suits do not need to be dry cleaned after every wear. Over-cleaning wool can dry the fibers and shorten the life of a jacket. A useful rule: dry clean once for every 4 to 6 wears, or sooner if there is a visible stain, an odor, or heavy perspiration.
Between cleanings, hang the jacket on a sturdy wooden hanger, brush it gently to lift dust, and let it rest 24 hours between wears so the fibers can relax.
Trousers wrinkle and pick up dirt faster than jackets β many people send trousers in twice for every jacket cleaning to keep the crease sharp and the seat clean.
