Silk is a protein fiber β strong when dry, weaker when wet, and sensitive to heat. Most silk garments should be dry cleaned to preserve the drape and avoid water rings.
Perspiration and alcohol-based perfumes can damage silk over time. Cleaning a silk blouse or dress soon after wearing it is the safest path.
Pressing silk requires a low temperature and a press cloth. At Joy silk pieces are inspected, treated for any stains by hand, dry cleaned, and pressed under controlled heat.
